We the brothers have been talking about opening a coffee shop in England for many years now. The coffee culture in Australia has been around for 30 years however it is only really just starting here now. In Australia it is hard to get a bad coffee yet over here it is hard to get a good one. As everybody knows coffee is our obsession so we thought ‘why not’ open our own coffee shop.
When I moved back to the UK to open our coffee shop myself, Peter and Michael sat down and did a lot of brainstorming. Michael came up with the name “NEW YORK COFFEE CLUB’ which we all loved straight away as we love New York City. We wanted a coffee shop with a New York theme, i.e. pictures of New York on the walls, old New York jazz playing in the background and New York style deli sandwiches which are made on the premises daily.
We also thought of the mums that like to go for a coffee during the day, so Pete came up with the idea of a kids play area in the corner. We all liked the thought of going to a coffee shop to have a beverage and a read so we are putting up a bookshelf for books, magazines and daily papers. For a relaxing coffee we also wanted the shop to be hip, streetwise yet with a relaxed atmosphere.
We have created 2 types of our own blend of coffee, a stronger blend for the milky coffee and a smoother espresso blend for the espresso shots. We also wanted to put some protein Frappuccino’s of different flavours, i.e., cappuccino, mocha, vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. We also do ‘chai latte’ which is a cinnamon tea but all milky and smooth and in a tall glass.

We make on the premises freshly made baguettes, bagels, Panini and Tosca focaccia all of which are displayed in our amazing handmade refrigerated bench which was made in Portugal. We will be the first in Europe to have this bench and all our coffees will be a rainforest alliance.
Also we will be selling an NYCC keep cup which customers can take home and every time they bring it in for a top up they get a discount off their coffees. Also planned are our NYCC loyalty cards which we will be launching very soon.
